Hey there,
This morning I saw a tweet linking to one of my favourite videos, namely a restored and colorised short film of Paris in the late 1890s. It's amazing: the camera just rolled wherever it was put, giving you a glimpse of what the city was like at the time (you can see people looking right at the camera, too, wondering what is happening - it's both amusing and touching). It's quite fascinating for me to see those places I go to on a regular basis as they were back then...
I then realised the artist, Denis Shiryaev, had restored other videos from other cities around the world and I thought some of you might find them of interest too. I mean, obviously it's a fascinating thing in and of itself, but I thought it could also be useful if some of you wanted to use the footage to get inspiration for writing a scene set, say in Tokyo, around 1913-1915. Just to give that little 'feel' for the place and time, I guess?
Anyway, in case it does interest you, here is a list of the videos I found this morning:
A Trip Through Paris, in late 1890s, here
A Trip down Market street, San Francisco April 14, 1906: here
A Trip Through New York City in 1911: here
A trip Through Tokyo, 1913-1915: here
A Trip Through the Streets of Amsterdam, 1922: here
A Trip down Tverskaya street, Moscow in 1896: here

pameluke: Tram Ride Through Vienna, 1906: here
ETAbis: And yet another one, we're on a roll, guys! ;)
pameluke found this gem, April Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem, 1897: here. Turns out this Guy Jones has even more videos over at his channel!
Have a good day, people (take care)
