So, I've spent the afternoon link-hopping around Tumblr, following Old Guard meta. (Which isn't easy because I have only the teeniest clue how to "work" Tumblr.) Oh, cool! Haven't had time to follow all the links yet -- I keep getting distracted by other links -- but I'm so grateful to have it available. Thanks for organizing it.

Got a question...

I tried to use it this evening, and I can't make the links work for me. They show blue, like they should be "live", but I don't get the pointer when I put my cursor on them.

Am I doing something wrong, or did I link an invalid URL? I'd really like to follow all those links and wallow in TOG goodness.

Okay, I've answered my own question. If I click on the blue 'not-link', then a blue 'real-link' pops down, and that takes me to the relevant post.

That... makes no sense to me, and I suspect it's working different than it should, and it's maybe a one-click for other people? But it is working, which is the important -- and satisfactory -- thing. I'll leave this here, in case anyone else runs into the same confusion I did.

<sigh> After all this time, computers and the internet are still weird.

I think that is how it's meant to work, sorry. Google Docs prioritizes the ability to edit text over following links. I've also used some text editors where trying to click the text of a link to edit it invariably opens the link in a new window, and would say they're probably equally annoying? But if you're only trying to read, not edit, yeah, it's suboptimal.

Okay, no problem, but thanks for confirming that it's not me. I always suspect that if I'm having trouble with something, the problem is in me instead of in it. Which is frequently true... but not always, thank goodness! But then I never know. <sheepish grin> I guess it keeps life interesting.
